the shacks Our re-purposed shacks originally made their home in northern Door County. Moved to the Algoma area twenty-odd years ago they were used as summer studios for artists. Moved again and now surrounding our wetland pond these shacks are an integral part of our eco-clectic outdoors. As each is retrofit, we have more room for demonstration, workshops and performances.
our plants Great care is taken with the selection of landscape plants offered each year. Working with local growers and regional nurseries, The Flying Pig gathers together unique perennials and shrubs along with tried and true varieties well suited to our lake shore conditions: late spring, cool summers, long falls and mild winters.
sculpture and display gardens Designing and developing an outdoor gallery for landscape sculpture and creative garden works has been a seven year mission of The Flying Pig. A cedar corduroy bridge allows well-footed customers to stroll around our one acre pond. Our local and regional artists work in ceramics, concrete, stone and various metals, offering a range of art for your landscape.
display gardens As plant enthusiasts know, the behavior of a plant detours far from the information printed on a plant tag. Our display gardens are being planted to fulfill our own curiosity, thus allowing us to become knowledgeable plant sellers. Also, they are just damn pretty. Named one of Wisconsin's top public gardens, our gardens combine wooodlands, pond-side, ornamental, native and sculptural elements to present a rare garden style.
